Senior Structural Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with strong high-rise building experience to support the design and development of large-scale residential and mixed-use projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural design, analysis, coordination, and construction support for mid-rise to high-rise buildings. This role will focus on structural design development, technical coordination, and supporting projects through design and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead structural design development for high-rise residential and mixed-use projects.
• Perform structural analysis and design calculations for steel, concrete, and composite systems.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and consultants throughout project phases.
• Review and respond to shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and construction-related questions.
• Ensure structural designs comply with applicable codes, including NYC Building Code, IBC, and industry standards.
• Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection efforts with project teams.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and address field conditions.
• Support value engineering efforts to improve cost efficiency and constructability.
• Assist with foundation design coordination and integration with geotechnical requirements.
• Provide technical support during permitting, design approvals, and construction administration.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of structural engineering experience.
• Strong background in high-rise building design and construction.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, or similar programs.
• Experience designing steel, concrete, and composite structural systems.
• Knowledge of NYC Building Code and U.S. structural design standards.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary BIM environments.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NYC high-rise residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
• Background in construction administration and field coordination.
• Experience collaborating directly with developers and design-build teams.
• Ability to review architectural and MEP coordination drawings.
• PE license preferred but not required.
