We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in HVAC and building systems design. This position will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical systems across a variety of building projects, working closely with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and internal design teams from initial design through construction.

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems for commercial and institutional building projects.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, and system layouts.
  • Prepare mechanical plans, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and construction documents.
  • Perform energy analysis and evaluate building energy performance.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other disciplines.
  • Manage projects from initial design through construction and closeout.
  • Review drawings and design work prepared by other team members.
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to document existing conditions and resolve design and construction issues.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, and other construction administration documentation.
  • Work directly with clients, architects, contractors, building owners, and project teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Assist with project schedules, staffing, budgets, and overall technical quality.
  • Develop designs and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on HVAC and building systems.
  • Experience with heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork design, equipment selection, and HVAC system design.
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, mechanical codes, energy codes, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience preparing construction documents for building projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ability to coordinate projects across multiple engineering and design disciplines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working directly with clients and project teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • PE license strongly preferred.
