Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing MEP team. This individual will lead the design and coordination of mechanical building systems while managing projects from concept through construction. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial and institutional building projects.
  • Prepare mechanical plans, specifications, calculations, reports, and construction documents.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, and energy analyses.
  • Evaluate building energy performance through field measurements and engineering analysis.
  • Prepare cost estimates and technical specifications for mechanical systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Manage projects from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
  • Monitor project schedules and help keep projects on track.
  • Respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, resolve field issues, and perform site visits.
  • Review the work of junior engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
  • Build and maintain client relationships while supporting project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical building systems design experience in an MEP consulting environment.
  • Experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Strong background in load calculations, equipment selection, duct design, energy analysis, and construction administration.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and building codes.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and designers.
  • LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience is a plus.
