Electrical General Foreman

We are looking for an experienced Electrical General Foreman to oversee field crews and help keep commercial electrical projects on schedule, within budget, and up to quality and safety standards. This person will work closely with Foremen, Project Managers, Superintendents, General Contractors, inspectors, and field crews. The role is hands-on and requires someone who can lead people, troubleshoot issues, understand the electrical trade, and keep a project moving.

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Make jobsite safety a priority and address unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Keep jobsites clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and other trades.
  • Use safety issues as opportunities to coach and train the team.

Project Management & Scheduling

  • Work with field crews to make sure installations are properly planned and reduce rework.
  • Help coordinate material, equipment, and fixture deliveries around the project schedule.
  • Review completed work and production against project schedules and expectations.
  • Review submittals and help the Foreman prepare for rough and trim installations.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
  • Review plans, specifications, equipment needs, job layout, and manpower requirements with the project team.
  • Identify potential change orders and communicate them to the Project Manager before additional work begins.
  • Work with the General Contractor and other trades to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts.

Quality Control

  • Make sure installations meet project specifications, applicable codes, and company standards.
  • Help Foremen and crews improve installation quality and efficiency.
  • Review Foreman performance and identify areas where additional coaching or training is needed.
  • Make sure crews are following approved plans, RFIs, design changes, and project directives.
  • Encourage the use of prefabrication where it can improve consistency and reduce field labor.
  • Help identify and correct quality issues before they become larger problems.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and coach Foremen and electrical crews.
  • Help develop crews and improve overall productivity.
  • Review upcoming work with Foremen and make sure crews understand priorities and expectations.
  • Coach Foremen on leadership, communication, scheduling, and jobsite management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve field processes and communicate ideas to the project team.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, inspectors, General Contractors, employees, and other project partners.

Administrative

  • Complete required project paperwork and documentation on time.
  • Work with HR on employee-related matters when needed.
  • Complete required continuing education and leadership training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of commercial electrical experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal electrical apprenticeship preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical trade practices and the NEC
  • Strong blueprint and plan-reading skills
  • Comfortable using computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, PlanGrid, DocuSign, and electronic scheduling systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical tools, test meters, and diagnostic equipment
  • Able to train and work with hand tools and power tools
  • Experienced with conduit bending from ½" to 2"
  • Experienced with running conduit from ½" to 4"
  • Able to oversee the installation and setup of switchgear, panels, and other electrical distribution equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable working in the field
  • Able to lead a team while maintaining positive relationships with customers and coworkers
