The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the production of design calculations, reports and plans for various public infrastructure projects involving site civil engineering, stormwater, sewer design and utility relocation. The candidate will work with the project manager to develop drainage calculations, designs and bid documents and will closely coordinate project activities with the client and other subconsultants. Additionally, the engineer will mentor, guide and direct junior staff in the development and production of various projects. The candidate must be a self-starter with a solid understanding of the consulting engineering industry.
Responsibilities -
- Complete assigned work on schedule
- Direct the development of project plans and specifications
- Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project deliverables such as reports
- Oversee the coordination and monitor productivity of project team members
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members
- Work closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects
- Perform quality control reviews of discipline-specific engineering project deliverables
- Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications -
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification in NY and NJ
- Design experience on NYCDEP, NYSDOT, NYCDOT and other agencies in NYS and NJ
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 to 9 years of relevant civil design experience including sewer and drainage design.
- Ability to direct staff in preparation of designs, construction plans and documents
